Aaron P. Bradford is a battle-tested trial attorney with a passion for serving companies and individuals in the areas of technology, healthcare, and hospitality. He has been recognized as one of the best attorneys in Colorado by the Denver Post, a SuperLawyer in Intellectual Property Litigation by 5280 Magazine, Barrister’s Best Health Care Lawyer in Colorado by Law Week Colorado, and as a “40 under 40” by the Denver Business Journal. After working in a leadership role at several national firms, Mr. Bradford opened BRADFORD, LTD to serve clients who need a trial lawyer to partner with them at all times—not simply when they have been sued.

Mr. Bradford was one of the managing members at Pryor Johnson Carney Karr Nixon from 2006-2009. He moved his practice to Lathrop & Gage in 2009, and was ultimately named Team Captain for West Coast Litigation at the 350-person litigation firm headquartered in Kansas City. In 2014, Holland & Knight asked Mr. Bradford to open, lead, and grow its Rocky Mountain operations. Mr. Bradford served as the Executive Partner for Holland & Knight’s Denver Office before founding BRADFORD, LTD in 2016.

Alex W. Ruge

Alex W. Ruge is a patent attorney who represents innovative companies in all aspects of litigation in the federal courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).  He clerked for the Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and clerked for the Honorable Philip A. Brimmer at the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.  Before joining BRADFORD, LTD., Mr. Ruge worked as an intellectual property litigation associate at national and international law firms and was a legal intern at Kitahama Partners in Osaka, Japan.

Mr. Ruge’s technical background is in Chemistry, and he researched nano-scale semiconductor materials at JILA (formerly the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics).  Mr. Ruge has represented technology companies in patent litigation concerning medical devices, software, machine-vision systems, and pharmaceutical products. Additionally, he represented a major private equity fund in protecting its brand through developing and asserting its trademark rights.  

Mr. Ruge taught English in Japan and received LAF’s Volunteer of the Year award in 2012 for his immigration legal work.

Mishele Kieffer

Mishele Kieffer is a patent attorney who has assisted companies protecting technology including semiconductors, automotive parts, bioreactors, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and consumer products.  She has represented clients in a variety of venues, including federal district courts, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, the International Trade Commission, the Federal Circuit, and mediation panels.

Before joining BRADFORD, LTD., Ms. Kieffer practiced as an intellectual property litigator at international law firms in Denver and Chicago.  She also clerked for the Honorable Emmet G. Sullivan at the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.  Ms. Kieffer worked as a process engineer for an industrial gas company prior to attending law school.

Stephanie N. McConkie

Stephanie N. McConkie is a litigation associate at BRADFORD, LTD. Prior to joining, Ms. McConkie clerked for the Honorable Andrew P. McCallin at the Denver District Court.  Ms. McConkie earned her law degree with a focus on intellectual property law at the University of Denver Sturm of College.  During law school, Ms. McConkie gained valuable in-house experience at CenturyLink and Gates Corporation.  She also externed at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in the photovoltaic art unit.  Prior to practicing law Ms. McConkie studied at Central Michigan University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology.  As an undergraduate Ms. McConkie served as a biochemistry research assistant.   

Ms. McConkie is active member of the Colorado legal community.  She is the Chair to the Center for Legal Inclusiveness Young Lawyers Division and serves on the Board of Directors for the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado.  Ms. McConkie is also a member of the University of Denver Law Alumni Council and serves on the planning committee for the Colorado Diverse Attorney Community Circle.  She has been a member of the Rhone Brackett Inn of Court since 2016.

Nina P. Brewer

Nina P. Brewer serves as Trademark Counsel for Bradford LTD. Mrs. Brewer specializes in trademark and copyright prosecution and enforcement, as well as business, civil rights and intellectual property litigation. Before joining Bradford Ltd, Mrs. Brewer managed her own solo law practice, Prevot Law LLC.  As managing member at Prevot Law, Mrs. Brewer served as corporate and trademark counsel for companies in a variety of industries including apparel, dentistry, precious metals, entertainment, and civil rights advocacy. She also represented individuals seeking redress through corporate, guardianship, and civil rights litigations. Mrs. Brewer also has experience with proceedings before the United States Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.  Prior to founding Prevot Law LLC, Nina served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Richard Caschette, Honorable Paul King and Honorable Michael Spear at the Douglas County District Court, where she wrote more than 90 orders resolving civil, criminal, domestic, and probate motions.  Mrs. Brewer previously worked in the legal department of DC Comics in New York City, where she helped to protect some of the most recognizable intellectual property around the globe – the Superman shield and the Batman logo. She also worked in the Hamburg, Germany office of an international law firm where she assisted senior attorneys with corporate restructuring, litigation, and international law matters.

Rachael M. Carter

Rachael M. Carter is Corporate Counsel for BRADFORD, LTD. She handles contract, entity formation and governance, and provides outside general counsel services. provides general outside counsel services. From her previous in-house legal experience, Mrs. Carter brings an understanding of the entity client’s perspective to the firm’s practice. She is excited to be a part of the vibrant practice at BRADFORD, LTD.

Originally from the Nashville, Tennessee area, Mrs. Carter moved to Colorado to pursue her law degree at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law where she focused her studies in the corporate and commercial law program. During law school, Mrs. Carter completed her corporate and commercial law certificate, participated on the ABA Representation in Mediation Team, and competed in the 2015 CU/DU Interschool Transactional Cup Competition where her team was in the top three out of more than forty teams. In her final year at the Sturm College of Law, Mrs. Carter’s article “Managing Acquisitions Compliance in International Franchise Expansion” was published in the spring edition of the Sturm College of Law’s online Law Review.

Prior to pursuing her legal career, Mrs. Carter received her undergraduate degree from Stetson University as a Magna Cum Laude graduate where she studied family enterprise, business law, and management. During this time, Mrs. Carter served on her sorority’s executive counsel and was also an active equestrian. She competed at international levels in the equestrian sport of Three Day Eventing and was a nationally ranked young rider.

Mrs. Carter is an active member of the Colorado legal community. She is actively involved in the Colorado Lawyers Committee’s Young Lawyers Division, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, and the Women’s Franchising Network of Denver. She is admitted to practice law in Colorado.

Outside of the office, Mrs. Carter has a penchant for interior design. She also enjoys traveling and taking advantage of Colorado’s beautiful outdoors by riding her horse, hiking with her dog, and skiing. When she has had enough of the cold, she enjoys scuba diving with her family.

Gillian Natanagara is a paralegal whose litigation support is guided by attorney and client needs. At BRADFORD, LTD, Gillian manages elements of the discovery process and assists in case strategy through research and evidence review. She is passionate about serving others through legal assistance and appreciates working directly with high impact clients including health care providers, hospitality professionals, and innovators in intellectual property.  

Before joining BRADFORD, LTD, Gillian served as the University of Vermont Undergraduate Research Coordinator. Gillian graduated from the University of Vermont Honors College in December 2019 with her Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies. As an undergraduate student, Gillian served as a leader in student governance, journalism, and a cappella. Her studies culminated in interdisciplinary thesis research with the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry for which Gillian was awarded the Simon Family Public Research Fellowship. Her research explored New Jersey residents’ perceptions of state lands and identified ways in which equitable land management at the state level can increase racial and cultural diversity in visitor populations. Gillian enjoys spending her time laughing with friends, tending to her 23 house plants, and contributing to any collaborative undertaking.

Vonda Westlake

As Executive Legal Assistant at BRADFORD, Vonda Westlake is responsible for all case file management, client outreach, witness scheduling, and trial & hearing preparation. Ms. Westlake also aids in managing the firm’s marketing and advertising initiatives as well as event planning for various philanthropic ventures. She works closely with BRADFORD’s managing member to continue to grow and cultivate the firm brand.  

Prior to her time at BRADFORD, Ms. Westlake served as a senior public relations coordinator at a global nonprofit organization, where she oversaw local and national press initiatives while supporting the organization’s digital and online presence. Before her years as a professional, Ms. Westlake was recognized as a four-year varsity letter winner for cheerleading at the University of Colorado Boulder.
